• What is Catalyst?

Catalyst is a programme for specialists in the field of schizophrenia, providing training, tools and on-going implementation support with the intention of improving clinical practice.

“The Catalyst programme aims to achieve positive change in the care of patients with schizophrenia, by translating clinical research and best practice into viable, durable and measurable treatments” – Prof. Douglas Turkington

Psychosocial Service & Job Support Service

Psychosocial Service

Catalyst’s Psychosocial Service offers a range of training workshops in three different psychological therapies: motivational interviewing, psycho-education and cognitive behavioural therapy. They are designed to be a practical overview and introduction to psychological techniques, enabling positive change in clinical practice. The Catalyst website contains supporting materials to help implement your overall training experience.

Patient IPS support

Catalyst also offers Individual Placement Support (IPS) Supported Employment training; an evidence-based practice that helps people with mental health difficulties to gain and retain employment. The approach has been successfully adapted to address the specific needs of young people who have experienced a first or second episode of psychosis, to support them in completing their education and gaining employment. This programme delivers IPS training face-to-face to healthcare professionals, vocational workers and other employment specialists, again with support from the online Catalyst website.
